As the Emera ideaHUB marks five years in operations, we find ourselves in a place of gratitude. We’re grateful for what we have seen grow and change since we opened our doors in 2018: for the ecosystem partners who have become colleagues and friends; for the students whose curiosity has become job opportunity; and for the start-up alumni whose ideas have become commercial products.

The Emera ideaHUB is constantly evolving and expanding our offerings, ensuring our participants are strong in their leadership and ready to invest in the local knowledge economy and beyond.

Over the past year, the Emera ideaHUB has continued to grow their central team, bringing in new members who have helped build and design programs and opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.

As we come to a natural transition point out of pandemic life and into a new normal, this report will provide a look back not only on the 2020-21 operations of the Emera ideaHUB, but also on the cumulative results of our organization to date.

The companies built and grown in the Emera ideaHUB environment have had positive economic impacts for our region. This report will elaborate on the HUB’s success seen through the 19 startups who collectively have generated five million dollars of financing, created 20 new jobs, and generated $750,000 in revenue and paid pilots.
